signs

about this time last year we were waiting for benjamin to arrive.we were planning our first homebirth and really wanted it to happen. i had some things i thought that would let me know when that day would come. first, the cactus had to bloom...when it did, we were so excited! we knew that ben would be here soon. i also wanted the pear tree on our front lawn to bloom. i thought it would make a beautiful focal point. it was in full bloom the day he was born and it was the thing i focused on to help me have the most peaceful labor. here it is this this year about to bloom...

its amazing. when i see these plants and trees blooming again it brings back the feelings i had those days before ben's birth. i get to relive the anticipation and excitement and think back on the great year we have had with him.
