this is one of the kids favorite days of the year...the day they get to plant their gardens. we started with some new plants but included begonias for sean of course. he always plants them under the tree in his spot. this year he turned the soil first and "fertilized" it with some potting soil. he doesn't need any help anymore and really takes pride in his work. he's just beginning but was happy to get his hands in his favorite spot.
lila got into this year and chose a spot for her first garden. it will be under the tree on the front lawn. a perfect spot that definitely needed some love and attention. she worked hard preparing the soil and chatted away while creating a beautiful place.
she thought it was still missing something and decided that it needed a sign. into the garage she went and began painting her garden sign. befor i knew it there was wood and lots of paint and 2 really happy kids. we even had a surprise visit from nana beth and pop pop henry who topped the day off with lots of yummy treats. we stayed out creating until it got dark and the excited kids have finally drifted off to sleep...hopefully dreaming of sweet things.
